Back in my early Miiverse days, I always wanted to be one of those great artists that make quality drawings, and here I am today. Not much progress made.

You seem to have your own art style working for you. When I look at a drawing I care more about what the drawing is about than I care about it looking super realistic. Sometimes a unique drawing style adds an extra quality and meaning to a drawing IMO.
