    They never said it was video games only. They said they sent a shuttle with ALOT of stuff earthlings liked at the time. Smurfs being one of them! HAH!! Now who's educating who mel?

    To my knowledge, both trailers have someone stating that some extraterrestrial lifeform has sent "videogames" to attack Earth at the beginning of the trailer. Yes, it's possible a Smurf episode or two could have been included in the time capsule, but the movie is being advertised as being about videogames. We haven't seen a pixelised president or rubix cube attacking Earth yet.

    @Vinny, according to BlackNerdComedy, there was a Smurf game on the Atari or something, so technically it fits within the timeframe, but I agree that it feels out of place.

    @Vinny, Well, between Pixels, mobile games, and now theme park attractions at Universal, Nintendo definitely seems to be expanding a bit on what can be done with their IPs. I guess they've thrown off a bit of the caution that came from the old bad cartoon and movies of their franchises and the like.
