since we're unlikely to get another mario party that plays like 1-8, i decided to get mario party 2 from club nintendo. never played it on the n64, but i've heard it's one of the best in the series.

    It is the best in my opinion. I still have it and the first mario party for my N64. I haven't played it in about a couple years or so, so I don't how the controls hold up to today. I would imagine the gamecube ones have aged better in terms of controls and playability.

    Well, my first expirence was a sour one: i was terrible at the minigames, i had pretty bad luck, and the CPU's had insane luck (two of them got stars in hidden blocks.)

    Speaking of Mario Party 2, Chuggaa and Masae are playing that game. Pirate Land on Chuggaa's channel, and now they're playing Space Land on Masae's channel. Also I need to watch the Runaway Guys play that as well...

    Yeah, the AI are insane in the earlier Mario Party games. Or at least they are when it comes to the dice rolls. In the minigames... well... *looks at Luigi Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing*

    One thing I've already noticed is that the AI is programmed to steal from whoever is in first if they get to boo, even if someone else has more coins.

    On a related note, I wonder why they never released mp3 on vc. I can understand the 1st one: the control stick rotating minigames. While I think 2 is the favorite among the n64 titles, mostly because of the minigames, 3 added the ability to carry more then 1 item at a time and two more characters with waluigi and daisy, both of which have gone on to become staple characters of mario spin offs.

    after having it for a few days now, i can see people still consider it the best in the series. the mini games r all really fun, with highlights being bumper balls, hexagon heat, shy guy says, and platform peril. the boards, while i've only played 3 of them (western land, pirate land, and space land), r all pretty fun.
