    The rising sea levels created less space for the Octarians and Inklings (who were totally cool with one another) so they had to fight over territory, with the Inklings claiming Inkopolis and the Octarians getting Octo Valley (Just a little bit away from Inkopolis). The Octarians in Splatoon are running out of energy to power the underground domes & stole the Zapfish.
