I found that weird too, but now that I think about it, if he used his tentacles his suction cups would stick to the records.

Yeah, but why wasabi roots? And don't Octarians have humanoid form? If you look at the Sunken Scrolls, you can see Cuttlefish and Octavio in humanoid form from before the Great Turf War.
