    Actually, its more of a Mother/EarthBound Beginnings thing, because in Mother 2/EarthBound the enemies were limited as you actually see them on the screen and, after you've defeated all of them, they would only respawn if you leave the area and go back, while in Mother you keep facing enemies forever on while trying to walk. P.S.: never played Mother 3, so I don't know how does it works there.
