I'm just going to copy/past the thing a walkthrough site says: The Train Station can be remodeled into 3 other styles once the player has been visited at least 100 times. After this, the player must talk to Porter.

Yuup. As long as 100 people have come to your town. Could be 100 different people, or several people, or just 1 person. Doesn't really matter.
