    Word had finally reached the Daein capital, Nevassa, from Castle Nox. Pelleas, King of Daein, had died in his own bed. With no king, Nevassa was in a state of confusion and terror. A mere day after Pelleas' death, Valaeron arrived at the capital to claim the throne - the timing of which questioned by some.

    Valaeron made his way to the royal palace's main gates. Who was waiting for him was none other than the Black Knight, Alondite lodged in the ground, resting his hand on the pommel. "Who would approach the royal palace?" The Black Knight asked as if scripted. "I know your voice," Valaeron proclaimed, ignoring his question. "Do you know mine?"

    "Who would approach the royal palace?" The Black Knight repeated. "The storm, sir knight," Valaeron began. "The first, and the last. I am Valaeron, your one true king." "Pelleas is my king." The Black Knight proclaimed. "Pelleas is dead." The Black Knight appeared unfazed at Valaeron's statement. "He was a pretender." Valaeron began to walk past the Black Knight, opening the doors himself.

    "Send word to our forces at Castle Nox that their commander, the silver-haired maiden, is to arrive at the capital within a fortnight, where I will accept oaths of fealty." As Valaeron entered the throne room, his eyes searched the throne before him. "I will expect the same of you soon enough."

    Valaeron stood at the gates of the royal palace, soldiers clad in the traditional Daein ebony before him, some carrying banners bearing Daein's sigil - a black dragon upon a red field. "Before me I see the proud men and women of Daein - and we were once conquerors. Our writ ran everywhere the sound of waves was heard and beyond." He began.

    His speech was met with roaring applause as several serving-men brought a large artifact to Valaeron - a massive curled black horn, glistening in the light. "When this horn is blown, the ancient dragons themselves will flock to its master. We will be akin to a storm - our dragons its thunder!" He was met with roaring applause once again, cries of "Daein!" echoing throughout the capital.
