So why do so many people pick the cat team? "because cats rule" isn't a valid answer

It's a matter of opinions and prefrences. For example I picked cats because I find them to be adorable and soft. I also have a cat.

Well, with cats and dogs there's really no way you can pick with logic. It's basically like choosing your favourite color (hot pink for me...), it's prefrence.
