You know. Nintendo seems to be inconsistent on the cannon of this game... first off the direct back in may said that they had just discovered the inklings, but sunken scrolls number 21,25, 26, and 27, say this game takes place 10,000,000 years in the future. and that humanity is now extinct.

    and the direct also said that inklings only gain the ability to transform into humanoids at 14, but sunken scroll 17 shows Callie and Marie(younger than 14 mind you) in human form winning a talent contest.

    However I do think that they did do a good job on a lot of it, like how the squid sister's song that they sing in phase 2 of the fight against DJ Octavio being a traditional song of the inkling people is cool. (you can find the sheet music for the song ,which is called calamari county, in sunken scroll 23)
