Personally I don't think it's even close to dead. A lot of mixed reactions from this E3's showing it's been interesting to see everyone's opionion on the state of Wii U and gaming in general for that matter

People is disapointed because of lack of Wii U games this E3... But people forgot that Xenoblade Chronicles X, Super Mario Maker, Yoshi's Wooly World, Starfox, and Devil's third are going to be launched this year...

and i see nothing coming that im interested in though X may be a great title its a very niche title and fits only a certain demographic...i remember fatal frame on the cube and felt it needed more then pictures..devils third looks like it goes too far trying to be over the top different that it wont be enjoyable to me

Yup it's a niche system for sure, almost every game is an exclusive on Wii U lol. Maybe thats what Nintendo really wants..a lot of there decisions could support that. I always thought if Wii U was on par with the others in terms of 3rd party support it'd have the highest and widest ranging game selection of any consoles.

it really depends on the NX, if it comes out in 2017 then the wii u is basically dead. nintendo has a poor track record when it comes to supporting a console once they have a new one comming. just look at the last year of the wii or gamecube. they basically got zelda and nothing else really. the wii u looks like it's following in that tradition.

I just pray when they announce NX next that Miiverse doesn't do a collective face palm out of sheer disapointment

maybe, if you got a wii u for smash or splatton and then nintendo releases a new console only after you've owned a wii u for maybe a year. it's like you wasted your money and have to spend like $400 for a new system. if that happens people will be upset

nintendo wants to differentiate themselves from the competition which is fine but the way they do it is just wrong...using old specs..not listening to their supportive community and only doing things their way considering many say dont do that we dont want it and then they give it anyways cause they want it

Nah, it's got two more good years, 'bout the same lifespan as those consoles before it. Read an editorial suggesting Nintendo purposefuly sabotaged its own E3 to start the first step of phasing it out. It makes zero sense.

It will interesting to see if they stick with the same approach regarding specs. They have to get 3rd parties on board for NX or likely suffer the same fate. NX will likely define Iwata legacy and I think he knows he's on a short leash. Really don't see them putting out anything less than what PS4/XB1 are doing now but it is Nintendo afterall...

@Maurii I could see them skimping out a bit on this years E3 to magnify next years E3. They could blow us away with unannounced Wii U titles and Zelda of course and then introduce us to the concept that is NX. It solidifies Wii U for another 1-2 years...really hope they are prepared for a real launch this time

In theory, PS5 and Xbox Two are already in development. Not sure how NX is any different. This year's weak E3 could mean they have some Wii U titles bottlenecked and need to contol the release dates carefully to pick the optimum time to launch NX. Time is on their side for a bit, as PS4 and xBone are taking forever to reach their stride. Nintendo doom and gloom talk is just that.

That's why E3 was so deflating cause the loyal fan base knows this, and wants HD Metroid, F Zero, or new titles on the horizon not just for bragging rights but as a sign wii are moving forward. Wii didn't get that concrete sign! Wii didn't get that franchise staple.

Rainz..It's not dead, but Nintendo's extremely weak E3 performance sure made it feel that way. First, we already knew that Nintendo planned to talk about the NX next E3, but to mention it again, plus no significant Wii U titles insight, made many Nintendo fans like myself feel as though this is the last hurrah for Wii U.

I've invested ALOT of money in the Wii U (games, accessories, and a hard drive), even when Nintendo made boneheaded decisions like not including online multiplayer in a game or voice chat in a multiplayer game. If the NX is to succeed, Nintendo will have to make some DRASTIC changes! Gamers like myself will not tolerant this again! If I buy a NX, I will be waiting 6 months to a year.

Also, it will be unacceptable in my opinion for the NX to be just on par with the Xbox 1/PS4. It needs to be more powerful. Since Nintendo likes gimmicks, the NX gimmick needs to be power! This is the one gimmick that "core" gamers and 3rd parties care about. The NX needs to be known as a next gen console. Why? If it isn't, gamers won't take it seriously, and stick with what they got.
