    Prepare for an assault of trivia. Dark Pit was intended to be only a alternate costume for Pit. But Sakurai and his team thought Dark Pit was too different from Pit to be one of his costumes. So, they quickly made Dark Pit (And Lucina and Dr.Mario) an individual character. His creation literally took 1/10 of the time to create a normal character. Now, stop complaining.
