    It would be too much for the 3DS to handle. They already attempted to do so, during development. It was shown that with the graphics, the open areas, the constant ink, weapons, clothes, etc., It was too much for the 3DS to process, so they dropped it all together. tldr; Too much content for 3DS to process.

    Imagine it, do you think that the 3DS could handle as much as the Wii U, and Xbox, or a Computer? Of course not. They have more capacity than a phone, but definitely not as much as a console. Splatoon would play laggy, even in single player and the plaza.
