Tip for beginners: Fighting the rats here is an effective way to get experience points early in the game. They're worth 3 EXP each, more than some of the early enemies in the field, and deal only about 1 damage when you're level 2. You should be that strong after the fight with the lamps and doll, so don't be afraid to take advantage of this easy trick!
