Well its most likely to be relic weapons since they can get highest possible attack + elemental/status damage and if you're lucky, natural purple sharpness.

There is no "best weapon" really. Depends on the monster you fight, though if you use Switch Axe, True Ruiner's Bane is amazing if you enjoy blowing up your enemies to death.

There are a lot of good weapons, I suggest looking up Gajin Hunter's Top 5 for each weapon class on Youtube.

There is no best weapon. if you took a player for each weapon that was an absolute expert at it, you would see nearly no difference in how good they play. You just gotta try out a few weapons and see if you like them or not. You'd best watch weapon tutorial videos because there are attacks the game dosen't tell you.

The best weapon is dynamically determined based on your performance in the 1-star quests for each weapon. If you do all 14 of them, the one you get the best time with becomes the best weapon class for that character slot. ... No, not really. Do those 14 quests, and see which one works for you. It's like picking a character in a fighting game. Which SF character is the best one?

brah this iz no final fantasy[although theres dlc of it], there iz no ultima weapon. all weapons are purely situational, like the rathalos switch axe is only good against monsters weak to fire, the real question you should be asking your self is what is the 'most effective way to take down this monster'. and that is declared by your playstyle

thats what makes monster hunter so unique, the diversity. you can choose option 1 but you could also choose option 2 and in the end they could have the same efficiency, this creates originality so you dont see hunters wear the same armor or weapon all the time, the main defining point is your play style. depending what you use and how you use it will MAKE YOU THE BEST WEAPON!

In all seriousness, the weapon class you use and the armor you wear is *vastly* less important than your skill as a player. Try every class, stick with the ones that feel the most comfortable. They're generally pretty well balanced, it depends more on how you want to play. Like big slow hits? Grab a greatsword! Dodging and weaving? Sword and shield. To each their own.
