  • 04 That bottom bit there is actually two pieces, both drawn with the grid off. The bottom edge of the bottom piece may look like it follows the grid line, but it is actually not quite the same as a piece that would have been drawn with the grid, & this allows for a cool optical illusion that I'll get into later on.

  • 07 As you can now see, the top step was just 3 tightly stacked, soft platforms. This way you can hit the spring when running up the stairs, but landing on the top step from the higher portion of the stage won't bounce you right back up!

  • From the ground level you can see how the bottom of the spring looks glitchy, this is the optical illusion I mentioned. During play it is constantly twitching about. If you only view it peripherally during a match, it looks like a ceiling fan in motion. It's a really neat little touch I stumbled on by accident. As you can probably guess, I call this the ceiling fan.

  • Like I said before, because of the construction of the stairs, you only hit the spring when walking up them, and not when landing on top of them!

  • But the main attraction is the Mystery Box itself. There are two paths to take, via cannons. You can use the Pitfall items on the moving platforms to try & send your opponents into the left cannon, which is more difficult to recovery back to the stage from, but the constant movement of those platforms means that players have a chance of taking the right cannon or not going for a ride at all!

  • The cannons are aimed deceptively. The left one that points toward the center stage actually fires you into another cannon that fires to the left, and similarly with the right cannon.

  • The right cannon fires you directly onto the pedestal. Only five fighters (DK, Ike, Samus, Ganon and Captain Falcon) are too heavy to land on top, they will hit the side and land on the grass.

  • The left cannon will fire you toward the left blast zone. Not to worry, I tested each path with all characters and the entire cast can recover from this. If you are playing Little Mac, use your side B after you air jump, an up B won't cut it. Lucas can make it back without even resorting to the PK rocket if you time your jump correctly! Ness is the hardest to recover with, so try avoiding the Box.

  • I noticed something while testing this stage that nearly the entire cast can do. If you recover from the left cannon and you're hanging on the far ledge, your ledge jump will (with most characters) put you at the perfect height for the spring under Daisy ther. This makes recovering back to the main stage much quicker. It can also mean very fast evasion from opponents near the edge.

  • Well that wraps up the presentation for this stage! I hope you all enjoy it, and please let me know what you think! I love hearing from you guys, and it's all too infrequent, so please let me know if you play this, and what you liked or didn't like about it!
