Think about this. Both Mew and Ditto can use transform. Both come from Kanto/Gen 1. Both are 8.8 Lbs. Both have pink coloration, blue when shiny. Also, Ditto is found in Cerulean Cave and where the Rocket Lab is. This is around where Mewtwo is and where he was created, respectively. Coincidence? I don't think so. Both are genderless. Is Ditto a failed Mew clone?

  • Also, in the Pokemon Minecraft games, Pixelmon and Pokecraft [I think], cloning a wild caught Mew [it is possible in those games] gives you a 25% chance for a Mewtwo, with a 75% chan for a..... Ditto. Is my point proven yet?

  • I use my IV bred EV trained shiny Lv. 100 shiny Ditto to make me feel better about the true lack of Mew.

  • It's a well-known theory, but Game Freak hasn't made it canon, yet. Besides, if that were the case, I would say Ditto is a "failed" attempt at cloning Mew. That would be mean to the adorable blob of DNA. .-.

  • It has to be to be slightly convincing.

  • I've held this theory since I first played Blue, way back then it first came out in the US. :D

  • Also, think about this. Spiritomb is number 108 in the Sinnoh regional Pokedex. It's entry states it is made up of 108 spirits. And it weighs either 10.8 Lbs or 108 lbs.

  • And, Both Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee, whether in English or Japanese, are based off famous wrestlers or fighters. I don't know the people in Japan, but in English, it is based of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.

  • *Wouldn't On the topic of theories and similarities; I forgot if this was true or not, but Clefairy was intended to be the mascot of Pokémon, but wasn't because Pikachu seemed more loveable and iconic.

  • How is that significant? It's just a little thing the designers put in for people to notice and nothing else like how Archeop's base stat total, 547, matches the Dewey Decimal number for feathered dinosaurs, 54.7. (#bulbapedia)

  • *Both of them Evolve and have a Pre-Evolution *Both evolve through an Evolutionary Stone *Both of their Pre-Evolutions are "Baby Forms", and can be gotten through breeding *Both are in the Fairy Egg Group *Both are Red's Main Pokémon in the "Pokémon Pocket Monsters" Manga *Both have similar ear-structure

  • They messed up in Gen. 6. Ever since the three original eeveelutions, they released them in pairs with type atvantages. Umbreon: dark, Espeon: Psy. Leafeon: Grass, Glaceon: Ice. But, when Sylveon came out, one of these 5 types should have come out. To be good offensive, either a steel or poison type. For bad defense, dark, fight, or dragon. Wish for a dragon type myself.

  • I also feel like Pikachu, like Clefairy, was originally going to be changed to Electric/Fairy type. It would explain why it's in the Fairy Egg Group, and it could also be why Dedenne was created. ...well, other than the fact that every Generation has an Electric-Rodent Pokémon, of course.

  • Also, all Eeveelutions use the new mechanics introduced in the Generation of their origin. Of course, exept for the first three, since EVERYTING was new back then. *Espeon and Umbreon use Gen 2's new Recorded Time/Day & Night cycle *Glaceon and Leafeon use Gen 4's "location-based" evolution, which hasn't been done yet. *Sylveon uses Pokémon Amie, introduced in Gen 6 as a side-thing.
