Does anyone know if there's a way to only get a certain Pokémon while trying to chain fish? I'm trying to chain for a shiny Magikarp and I keep pulling up Goldeen. I don't want to get a shiny Goldeen tho D: Help?

Different fishing rods pull up different fish. Old rod will get you a magikarp if you are on a route that has magikarps

I am using the old rod, but I'm still getting Goldeen. Is it because of the place I'm in? I'm in the route left of Oldale Town.

Why don't you try and fish in Sootopolis City. (correct me if I spell wrong) DexNav last I saw only had Magikarp and Gyarados in the water.

I actually don't have the Shiny charm. The national dex is so hard to complete. D: And I wasn't counting, but it didn't take long. Only about five minutes.
