Volcarona gets it's name from Volcano(where Larveasta live) and the suns Corona(what you see in a solar eclipse), And when the suns light was blocked by volcanic ash they replaced the suns light and heat.

    But the 'Vol' may also be from Vulcan the roman god of fire. It's japanese name seems to stem from Vulcan and moth
