    You don't necessarily have to have the same Species of Pokemon, but they do have to match in what is called an, "Egg Group." An Egg Group is a group of Pokemon compatible for breeding, this is usually determined by how they look. Examples include: Monster Group: Tyranitar X Aggron. Bird Group: Fearow X Pidgeot. (Your case) Field Group: Ninetales X Infernape.
