I handed her a towel and she sat down at the kitchen table. “What is your name?” I asked her queitly. “My names Serena… She said shyly.” “I’m Clemont.” I replied I looked at her, “Why were those men messing with you?” I asked.

She looked down, “I, uh, well I…” she closed her eyes, and I saw a shadow slowly expanding behind her.

Then I realized, that it wasn’t a shadow. They were wings… “Woah….” I gasped. “You can’t tell anyone…” she whispered, folding her wings back. I nodded, knowing that this was a secret, that would last a lifetime.

I was only 13 then. Here I am now, thinking of that one day three years ago… I remembered teaching Serena how to read, I remembered, hiding from my dad in the trees, when I was supposed to be sleeping.

I remembered hanging out in the forest with the wild pokemon, and when she met my little sister. I remembered the look on Serena’s face when she flew for the very first time.

And how it all might go away right here. Right Now.

Okay, guys, I just finished writing that chapter, and let me tell ya, I just had a major case of the feelz about it. In other words, I cried. XD

Part Twelve: Nightmares in Reality Serena

My head was killing me. I opened my eyes to find myself in a small enclosed room of stone. I was lying on a hard bed with y wings oddly spread out. “Clemont?” I called concern. I stood up and tried to open the door. It was locked.

I looked up and saw the number 12 labeled at the top of the door. Then I remembered, Number 12, was my number… I realized I was in Team Flare’s lab... I leaned my back against the wall and slid down to the floor.

This can’t be happening… I thought, Not again, I must be dreaming. Yet deep, deep inside I knew, that this wasn’t a dream.

My worst nightmare had come true.

I wrapped my large wings around my shoulders, cocooning myself in my wings. A tear slid down my cheek. Then the door opened. “I see that you’re awake now, 12.” a familiar voice chuckled, “Oh, it’s been such a long time. How have you been?”

It was Ivory.

“Get out.” I muttered. She chuckled, “Don’t cry my child, you’ll be fine.” she chimed.

“Just because you designed me, doesn’t mean I’m your ‘child’” I snapped. “I’m nobody’s child. I grew up in a test tube, remember?” She sighed, “You still have a lot to learn, littleBirdie.” she handed me a small stone, with a Red, White, and Indigo swirl inside and continued, “We have a few more tests to run. I’ll be back tomorrow for you.” she sashayed away in her red heels like a total snob.

“Bye, witch.” I muttered to her. She rolled her eyes and slammed the door as she left. I examined the small stone in my hand, “What is this?” I whispered to myself, “A marble?” I slid it into my pocket and sat on the bed in the corner, and thought. What are they up to?

Part Thirteen: The Rescue Mission Zoe Clemont’s eyes widened and he stared at the floor, shocked beyond belief.

“You’re lying....” he muttered. “She’s just downstairs.” he grabbed a pokeball from his pocket and started towards the stairs. I grabbed his shoulder and he looked at me. “He’s not lying, we looked. She’s gone.” I said to him. “She’s with Team Flare…”

He slowly nodded and I looked at him, “But we’ll find her. And get her out.” I said. “We know what it’s like, and we can’t just do nothing about it.” Flint continued. Clemont smiled, “Thank you.” he replied. We walked out of the Lumiose gym and I looked at the city around us. “Jeez, this place is like a maze…”

Clemont pointed down the street, “This way.” he stated. He walked forward and I followed, guiding Flint through the bustling city crowd. “Flint, make sure your hood stays on. These people would freak out if they saw what you were,” I warned. “Gotcha,” Flint said and put his hood on. “Okay, so where are we going, Clemont?” I asked.

“Route 4.” he replied. “When we first met, she told me she escaped one of their labs, which was in a forest. Since route four contains the closest forest to Lumiose, I assume that’s where she came from.” I nodded, “and if that’s where she came from…” I started, “... Then that’s where they probably took her.” Flint continued.

Clemont nodded, “Exactly.” He replied. We quietly wove through the crowd as Clemont silently guided us through the streets. We finally got on route four after about twenty minutes (I don’t know exactly because I don’t own a watch.) “Is this the Route Four?” I asked. “Yes, that took longer than usual. It was so crowded. It’s almost never that crowded,” Clemont explained. “

Hm…” Flint said. Suddenly he gasped and said, “Get down! Go into the bushes! Hurry!” Flint said quickly and quietly. We jumped into the bushes and I asked, “Flint what’s going on?” Flint shushed me and we ducked further into the bushes.

I heard Flint whisper two words and they sent a chill down my spine… “Team Flare.” I gasped and ducked down even further, then turned into the smallest pokemon ever, a Blue Flabébé. Clemont just stared at me in awe. “I forgot you could do that...,” he whispered. “Shut up!” Flint whisper-yelled at Clemont.

“Where did they go?” I heard a Grunt say. “Beats me. Dear, Arceus the boss is gonna be so mad…” another Grunt muttered. “Ivory?” I heard the first Grunt say. “No… her...” the first Grunt said in a scared voice. “Oh, man, We better find them ASAP!” The second Grunt said. They both then ran away.

“Who’s her?” I asked Clemont. “I… I have no idea. Serena never mentioned anybody from the lab, except the woman who created her.” he answered. “Oh no… if they’re talking about who I think they’re talking about, then we’re in more danger than we could have ever imagined…” Flint muttered cryptically.

Part Fourteen: Her Flint

“What do you mean?” Zoe asked, “Who’s ‘her’” I remained Silent. “Flint, are you ok?” Zoe asked, she shook my arm. “Flint!”

“Number 17. Wakey wakey. We’ve got an experiment for you…” Ivory said. “What now…” I asked. “Hush now 17. We’re testing your true potential. We’re going to see how powerful your flames are,” Ivory said. Then she chuckled causing her teal colored hair bounce on her shoulders. “Enough talk. Let’s get going 17!” Ivory Chimed.

We walked along the dismal gray hallways passing doors with big numbers on them. 16. 15. 14. 13. 12. 11. 10. And so on. Until we got to a big room labeled “TESTING CHAMBER”.

“Now go in there 17. Don’t come out until they’ve let you out, or else,” Ivory warned. I flinched a bit but I knew I had to be strong. I opened the heavy gray door and walked inside. “Hello 17. Please step on here,” a scientist said and beckoned me to a gray platform. Gray. Such a familiar colour around here. I stepped onto the platform and waited for further instruction.

How naive I was. (Well, for a Four-Year-old anyway.)

“Good. Now then, go ahead and channel as much fire energy as you can at that target on the wall. “O-okay,” I stuttered. I took a deep breath and put my hands forward and caused a surging ocean of fire swirling towards the target.

“Oh Arceus!” I heard a scientist yell. If it weren’t for the huge freaking wall of Fire in front of my face, I would’ve known what was going on. But I did as told, and kept focusing all my fire forward onto the target ahead. Then I heard screeching like a whistle. I would have looked around to notice what was happening but I just kept doing what I was told.

I heard the screeching getting louder and louder. Louder, and louder, and louder, AND LOUDER!!! The screeches still haunt me! SCREEEEEEEEEECH! Then suddenly, BOOM! Screeching, gone. A flash of light took over my vision, then everything went black.

I felt a pair of hands quickly pick me up carry me away. I was too shocked to even move, “Are you okay 17?” A muffled voice exclaimed, I tried my best to respond, but nothing came out. The voice continued to speak to me, but i couldn’t understand what they said. I felt more hands grabbing at me and shouting orders.

“He’s blacking out!” I heard someone yell, then the chaos and noise around me slowly subsided. “Number 17? Are you there?” I heard Ivory ask. “What’s going on?” Imanaged. “You overloaded the system. It’s going to take weeks of repair and millions of dollars! You ruined it. Now stand up and open your eyes.” I got up and opened my eyes.

“Ivory???” I asked. “What is it now?” Ivory snapped.

“I can’t see,” I replied slowly.

Part Fifteen: Search Through Route 4 Zoe

After around 5 minutes of Flint zoning out, I had enough. So I did what I always do, punched him in the arm. Which seemed to do the trick.

“Ow! What was that for?!” He exclaimed. I rolled my eyes, “You were in the zone again.” I stated. “So I got you out of it.” He suddenly flinched, as if he remembered something. “We have to get out of here.” He stated. “When it comes to team Flare, if you find one, you’ll find a dozen.” he continued.

We crept out from the bushes and navigated our way through the woods. “Watch out for wild Pokemon…” Clemont warned, “They could be owned by Flare,” I nodded, making a mental note of that as we walked onward.

We walked in silence for a few minutes, which didn’t like, so I broke it. “How did you and Serena meet?” I asked Clemont. He seemed shocked that I asked,

“Well, Team Flare was chasing her through Lumiose late at night.” he replied, “I overheard what was going on and I saw Serena backed in a corner, surrounded by grunts. I confronted them, and they went away… She thanked me, then it escalated from there.” he said solemnly.

“Oh, okay.” I replied. “Sorry for asking.” He shook his head,”It’s fine.” he said. I looked to my right and saw an old brick wall, with vines growing over it. “Hey, guys,” I motioned toward the wall, “I think this might be it.”

“What?” Flint asked blindly. Literally. “There’s an old brick wall over here, it looks kinda familiar to me too. I think it might be the lab!” I exclaimed. We crept closer to investigate.

Then I noticed burn marks staining the wall, “What the….” Clemont muttered. I looked through a very cracked window to see a Blackened and ash-filled room with singed wood flooring.

“This can’t be…” I started. “The building must’ve burned down, long ago…” Clemont said. Flint Froze. “Wait, B-burned down?” he stuttered. I nodded, “Yeah, why?” I replied. He put his hands on his head in shock, “I didn’t know I burned down the whole building…” He gasped…

“Wait, YOU did his?” I asked “how?” He shakily sat down “They were testing to see how powerful my flames could be, then something went wrong…” he stated “but They never told me the whole building burned down….” he continued. Clemont and I went silent.

Flint turned around, “Let’s go… I don’t want to be anywhere near this place.” he muttered. Clemont and I silently did so, as Flint ran smack into a tree. I giggled. “It’s not funny!” Flint yelled and pointed towards the tree. “I’m over here,” I said. “I knew that,” Flint lied.

“You should’ve at least asked me if there was anything in the way…” I muttered silently. “Stop it!!!” Flint yelled facing Clemont, making him flinch. “Again Flint, over here,” “He’s even more hot-headed than Serena…” Clemont Muttered under his breath.

I reluctantly grabbed Flint’s hand and guided him through the forest. I blushed a little bit. “Um, what does the base look like?” Clemont asked. “It looks like a large, gray brick building.” I replied.,” Zoe said. “Very Gray. I think the only color I saw back then was gray.” Flint continued.

I was surprised to hear him say that, because of well, you know, his blindness. But I just pushed it aside. We walked on and on, until eventually Clemont stopped. “We’ve searched all of Route 4, and we’ve seen nothing. Any other ideas?”

“How about we stop by Lumiose City?” I suggested. “We can rest there for the night and continue on in the morning, better than another night in the woods,” Flint continued. “True, okay, we can rest for the night there,” Clemont agreed. We walked on Route 4 for what seemed like forever until we finally got to Lumiose City. “Finally!” I shouted.

We entered a small Motel and rented a Room. Thank Clemont, for paying for that. The second I walked in I collapsed on the couch. And almost instantly fell asleep.

And surprisingly, that was the best sleep I had had in ages.

Part Sixteen: Serena

I sat in the corner of my small gray room, with my wings wrapped around my shoulders. I do this when I’m nervous or just need comfort. I heard light footsteps getting closer from outside my door. Then it creaked open. “Good morning, 11. How are you feeling?” Ivory chimed. I didn’t move,

“What do you want?” I muttered in a low voice. She tapped my shoulder, “Do you still have the stone I gave you yesterday” She asked, Completely disregarding my question. I nodded slowly, “Yes. It’s in my Pocket.” I replied. She nodded, “Alright, make sure you hold on to that, you’ll need it for this next test.” She warned.

She smiled slightly, “I hear you’ve been hanging around the Lumiose Gym Leader. Clemont, is it?” she said happily. “I hear he’s on his way here to save his little damsel in distress.” she giggled, “But don’t worry, Prince Charming won’t make it far.” She said.

“What are you going to do to him?” I asked in a harsh tone, and she nodded, “We’ll just be making sure he doesn’t get anywhere near you. No matter what it takes.” She snickered. I turned around and pointed at her, “If you hurt him or my friends in any way, I swear to Arceus I’ll-”

She put up a finger, “Ah-ah-ah, you didn’t let me finish.” I went silent. “If you do what we say, and cooperate with us, we won’t lay a finger on him, or anyone else who tries to stop us.” She said coldly. I looked down and thought, Don’t fall for it, it’s a trick. Clemont Zoe and Flint are all still safe and sound in Lumiose.

Then I thought, But what if it isn’t?

I looked up at Ivory’s dark green eyes, and frowned. “Allright. I’ll do what you say.” I agreed with her offer. She smiled. “Good girl. Now come along with me, this is a very important test. She grabbed my hand and we walked down a Gray dismal hallway with many doors in which I knew had kids like me behind them, waiting to be pulled out for a test.

This is gonna Suck.

Part Seventeen: Mega Possibilities. Clemont

“Everyone ready?” Zoe asked with an excited tone in her voice. “To kick Flare’s Butts? Heck yeah.” Flint replied

We walked out of the small motel we were staying in and onto the streets of Lumiose. “So, where will we go now?” Zoe asked curiously. “We have no Idea where the lab is now.”

I looked up, “Wherever fate takes us.” I replied. I know it sounded cheesy, but it was the truth. The streets weren’t as crowded as they were yesterday, so it was much easier to navigate our way through the city.

Zoe pointed to an alleyway near Autumnal Avenue, “Look, That man looks… Familiar.” she stated. I looked in the direction of which she was pointing and saw a suspicious looking man standing near a red building.

Zoe Walked off in the direction of the man with Flint. “I think I know him…” She muttered. I had no choice but to follow. He walked into a small Cafe painted red, but the sign on the window said ‘Closed’. Zoe seemed to notice as well, and we peeked in through the window.

He pushed a button behind the counter and whispered something into a bookcase against the wall. Suddenly, the bookcase slowly slid to the left, revealing a large doorway., and he walked in.

We immediately followed, as Flint whispered, “What’s going on?” in Zoe’s ear. “A man walked into a cafe and opened a secret entrance, and walked in, and we followed. I think this could be Team Flare’s lab…” Zoe whispered back.

We walked into the eerie doorway and through a long hallway with doors labeled by number. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on. When we came across the door labeled. ‘12’ I remembered Serena telling me they didn’t have names back in the lab, they just had numbers. And that her’s was 12.

I ran to the door and opened it as fast as I could, only to find an empty room with a small bed in the corner. “Clemont, what’s wrong?” Zoe asked in conscern. I looked at her, “‘12’ is Serena’s number…” I replied slowly. Her eyes widened, “This is it……” she muttered. “This is the lab.” she said.

I walked into the room hoping Serena was in there, I looked under the bed, under the covers. I found nothing.

“Clemont, if she’s not here, then…” Zoe began. Flint rubbed his forehead, “She’s in testing…” Flint finished. Serena was being tested. Like an experiment.

We stormed out of the room and shot down the hallway. “Look for a door labled ‘Testing.’” Zoe whispered, “That’s what it was like back then, so that’s probably what its like now.” She continued.

I saw a window and I peered through, I saw a woman with Teal Blue hair standing next to a machine, holding what appeared to be a keystone. I looked to her left to see Serena. Holding a small stone in her hand, with a Red, White, and Blue swirl in the middle.

I had seen stones like this. Some enabling pokemon to mega evolve. Then I realized, that’s what they were doing to Serena. They were going to see if Serena, could use Mega Evolution.

Part Eighteen: Mega Mistakes Serena

“What’s Mega Evolution?” I asked Ivory while holding the mysterious stone in my hand.

She chuckled, “Mega evolution is when a Pokemon of whom was thought not to be able to evolve any further, holds a special stone- In your case, Swellowite - and temporarily evolves with an incredible boost of power. It can be used as many times as you like, but only lasts during battle.”

“And you think this stone, could make me… Mega Evolve?” I stuttered. Ivory nodded, “Precisely. Since you have Swellow DNA merged with your Human DNA, then the stone may react to you as if you were a Pokemon.”

I did not like this one bit. I’m not a Pokemon, nor am I human. WHat if this so called, ‘Mega Evolution’ Doesn’t play out the way it is supposed to?

I closed my eyes tight and braced myself for what may happen next, “Okay… I’m ready…” I said. Ivory pulled a lever and the stone in my hand started to glow.

A pink radiating light swirled around me, practically encasing me in light. Then t burst outward in all directions and I sort of Levitated in the air for a moment. Then I dropped lightly.

My wings were outspread,and twice as big as they usually are, and were laced with red and white cotton like feathers on the edges. “It worked!” I heard a scientist chime, “It actually worked!”

This new form of me didn’t quite feel right, but I had to cooperate with Ivory. “Now,try flying!” Ivory yelled. And I did as told. I took off into the air, circling the large room at top speed. I was even Flying faster than usual! This was so…. Cool!

Suddenly my wings started to grow warm. I looed at them and they were no longer the Familiar indigo colored wings I grew up with. They were a Metallic Grey, and looked like pure steel.
