Excellent game. It's easy to see how ahead of its time it was. But more than that it was beautifully emotional in all the right ways. Much like Earthbound. It seems like essentially the same story told two different ways to me, with many of the same themes. The grindfesting had me thinking the game was gonna be alot longer than it actually was, too. But I loved it. Getting to level 99 next game.

  • It wasn't agead of its time at all. The entire thing is a Dragon Quest clone/twist/. That's not an insult, it's my favorite franchise. But it was very of its time.

  • @adam maybe he's referring to the story itself

  • Yes, I meant the story and themes. The fact that takes place in the US in the 80's (or rather, a parody version of it). The music, etc. I'm perfectly aware that gameplay wise it is a typical JRPG of the era. I'm a huge Dragon Quest fan as I grew up in the NES and SNES eras.
