    It's a pokemon with an alternate color scheme. For example, shiny charizard and greninja are black, while shiny ditto is light blue, and shiny mewtwo is light green. They also have a distinctive sparkling animation when they enter battle. In X/Y, there's a 1/4096 chance that you will randomly run into a shiny in the wild or hatch one from an egg. Although there are ways of increasing your odds.

    A shiny Pokemon is a Pokemon that has a different color scheme from the norm. Each Pokemon specie has a shiny variant, and they're considered very rare and valuable, despite being no different from a nornal Pokemon, aside from the different colors.

    so how you find a shiny pokemon well first you have to complete the pokedex then talk to professor and make sure you tell him to check all your pokedexs and then he gives you a egg charm and a shiny charm then you go to grass or were you can catch pokemon and you have to look for the shiny!

    You can find shinies normally in the wild or through breeding, though, like Eric said, the odds of finding one can be very low. There are ways to make them easier to find, like Consecutive Fishing, Radar Chaining, breeding with the Masuda Method, having the Shiny Charm, using the Friend Safari...
