    Number of times I did a neutral or 'any other' B and smash somehow interprets my 'stick is so far down as to cause thumb blisters' as 'slightly to the right side B' next to a ledge. I'm confident the UI is optimised to misinterpret any input. Try messing with just direction and a dedicated grab button in training - shields, forward A attacks at random points.
