Can someone explain to me why some of the characters from Fates are identical to some of Awakening's characters? Are they the same people, or what?

Luna, Lazwald, and Odin are the same as Severa, Inigo, and Owain (respectively). Matoi, Grey, and Syalla are preincarnations of Cordelia, Gaius, and Tharja (AKA Cordelia, Gauis, and Tharja are reincarnations of Matoi, Grey, and Syalla). Luna, Lazwald, and Odin can also have supports with the Robin and Lucina amiibo.
