    In Sonic the Hedgehog, getting all six Chaos Emeralds gets you more points at the end of the game. A lot more. And the good ending.

    sonic 2 first introduced super sonic and the 7th emerald but clicking sonic 3 with knuckles gave you super emeralds with the master emerald. then sonic transforms into hyper sonic. but the master emerald doesn't count for some reason.

    In the original Sonic the Hedgehog, there are 6 chaos emeralds, and Super Sonic did not exist at the time. Super Sonic was playable in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and future games. I hope this info helps. :D
