    I know there are more instances like this, but the only one that's stuck in my mind is how Miyamoto won't let a new F-Zero be made until they have the right controller. And then there's Paper Mario: Sticker Star's awful sticker battle system that replaced partners.

    He's just a supervisor and gives advice. The guys developing the games don't need to obey him or take it by heart, or else we wouldn't have gotten Rosalina.
