I know I'm all for stronger female character development with Ana here, trying to find her mother and all, but if you ask me, I think the story might be more fleshed-out and emotional if Ninten's mother was kidnapped as well. Not that I don't want PrimeRibs every time I come back to Podunk, but a good story element might be that Ninten's mother's a bit overprotective of Ninten because...

...he has asthma, also on the account of the PSI phenomena going across America because of George's PSI research. It'd probably be late into the game before she got kidnapped, and by going to confront the alien leader, Ninten would show Mom just how strong he's gotten on his journey despite these obstacles. I just think that'd be more interesting than Ana's quest to find HER mother.

I get where you are coming from, but then what would Ana's storyline be? Plus her hometown is where majority if not all of the kidnapping happened.

Out of all the Mother games, Ninten has no backstory. Ness gathers 8 melodies like Ninten, but learns more about his childhood. Lucas had his mother killed in an outrage from the Mecha Drago and had his twin brother missing for 3 years.

His back story would be him exploring the mystery of his great grandparents disappearance and this mystical psi ability that he finds out he has.
