    Yes! This is the best way to give your islanders food that would otherwise be disliked since their happiness won't decrease as much. Often, it may even increase. The only exception to this are the worst/(worst ever) and Favorite/All-Time-Favorite. Good food to give when they are starving are the Ruined Meal, the Moldy Bread, the Banana Peel, the Spoiled Milk, and the Green Juice.
