Okay so house fire averted. Apparently my grandmother absentmindedly used a rubber grip thingie meant for opening jars as a makeshift heat grip for a pan in the oven before and then left the rubber in there. I turned in the oven expecting nothing to be in there and there was a bunch of smoke a few moments later. >.>
