    I hate to be "that guy" but that isn't breaking the fourth wall. Breaking the fourth wall means they're breaking character and the illusion of the world they're in to interact with the player, by referring to you directly.

    Well, actually no, not entirely. Breaking the fourth wall is any time a piece of fiction acknowledges just that: it's fictionality. This is commonly done by directly referring to the audience, but it isn't limited to just that; referring to the creators directly or indirectly also counts as breaking the fourth wall.

    Though the Squid Sisters' comment may not get a second look from most people, given the context that this map was actually unveiled relatively early on (apparently at least, I never knew that until someone told me), it starts to take on a different meaning, as in the developers spent alot of time re-building the map to get it just right.

    This indirect reference to the creation process of the game seems to fit the definition of breaking the fourth wall to me, and I don't think it's that much of a stretch to assume it was a bit of a self-referential joke by the developers.

    So are you wrong about fourth wall breaking involving referring to the audience? No, but that's only one aspect of it; basically anything that implies "yeah, this is just a story," is breaking the fourth wall. (Sorry about all the messages, I just like using alot of words when I describe stuff >_<)
