    Well, first of all. There wouldn't be much variation between pants.. Second of all.the inklings are base off of a flying squid which has 8 tenticles. And the inkling hair and arm are the tenticles.do it be basically cutting there body parts...

    The boy inkling can't have long hair.. Just like how the squid there based off,the boy squids have smaller tenticles then the girl.which explains how the boy has small hair then the girl
