    this isnt a battle but recon mode. From the lobby hit y, and pick a stage. it allows you to explore the map on your own

    Go to the lobby. From there to the left you should see hit Y for recon. It'll take you to this screen where you can select what stage you want to look at. The stages you recon depend if you're hovering over Regular or Ranked mode.
