#ThunderRazorsSplatoonTips Tip #10: The Blaster and Custom Blaster are very powerful weapons, where I prefer the Custom more. They can be very agressive and offensive. For advancing quickly and when in combat it is good to use the swim-jump-shoot technique. This keeps your momentum more making you move quicker and harder to hit. Fight enemies at the burst distance and shoot above ground.

  • What is your rank?

  • A+ 99, and I got there often using a Custom Blaster, but not exclusively. I played both Splatzones and Tower Control. The only thing I don't really use in Ranked are Dynamos and Splatchargers. Not because I think they are bad (they're great), but because I'm not good enough with them.

  • Check out ThatSRB2DUDE's video on the Blaster. He is a much better player than me and explains a lot about the Blaster. He doesn't really go into ledge guarding though. https://youtu.be/vYjnYUzSEQQ

  • Interesting ideas. I'm of the opinion that there are no bad weapons in Splatoon. Everytime I think there is I am proven wrong. The author of the vid is thinking too linear or too much of fighting on a single plane. He is probably also thinking too much about individual play instead of team play. I'll check out his other vids. If a weapon seems bad it just doesn't fit your style, or the map.

  • I kinda agree with what he says in part 4 about SJumping, but I don't think he gives it enough credit. Knowing what he said about the KO roller has to help sway peoples prefrence toward the normal roller, knowing that it has options and the KO roller doesn't

  • Don't worry about being slow. I'm often away from the Miiverse. I watched all his videos and he has good points but I think his negatives are too overarching. Super jumps can be very important, in maps like Moray Towers and Saltspray they can really pin the enemy down. Beakons can be very useful, too. It all depends on the stage. Tentatek is the best weapon if you don't want to change strats

  • After the Ink resistance nerf a lot of people started agreeing with me that Stealth Jump is useful (even though it got nerfed too). It depends on the weapon and play style. Tentatek I'm 50/50 on Stealth. I'd probably not use it and limit my Super Jumps. Yes, there are audio ques, but you can also shoot and throw a Suction bomb before even landing.

  • I find stealth jump quite bad. You jump SO SLOW! To each their own I guess. The only primary ability I use is Cold Blooded.

  • The thing with stealth jump is you can't get to pushes as fast as you could be, as well as getting out of situations.

  • Based on Nintendome's data the Stealth Jump adds less than 1 second to the jump time. Which, yes, it is slow. But on a map like Moray Towers or Camp Trigger fish, it would take significant time to advance to the enemies area by swimming. For an aggressive, behind the enemy lines play style, Stealth Jump is perfect. On small maps, I probably won't use it (Blackbelly, Walleye, etc.).

  • If it was bad the devs wouldn't have nerfed it. I'm sure they are comparing lots of data and found an imbalance they tried to correct.

  • Also note that the video series you shared was made before the release of Moray Towers, so the author couldn't have considered it.

  • Awesome! Yeah disruptors are really fun and useful. Don't forget that the cold blooded perk greatly reduces the time you are affected by disruptors as well as point sensors. Very handy.

  • I'm getting abilities added on gear, and I had to use one with stealth jump. It took atleast 2.5 seconds to charge the jump! So I wanted to get to the front lines to ink turf in the last 10, but I landed with a second left. I couldn't do anything! It's faster to swim than stealth jump. Switch the SJ for a swim speed up and your good.
