  • There's no direct connection between Mother 1 and 2. Apparently, Itoi has stated that Giegue in Mother 1 is the same entity in EarthBound, but never explained how. The plot of this game is a bit strange in spots, but I understood it.

  • There is a lot of interesting speculation and fan theory out there, especially with the several unanswered questions (what did George steal from the aliens; how did Maria get stuck in her own Magicant; is Eagleland the same as America in EarthBound Beginnings; etc)

  • Giegue IS Giygas, and that's the connection. They have the same name in Japan, which is why it's unfortunate they literally just dumped the prototype ROM unaltered rather than correcting that. And if they change Pokey to "Porky" in an official Mother 3 translation, they'll just flub up all the final boss connections.

  • @Cassie Consider those questions *puts on Horatio Caine glasses and explosions happen behind me* answered. 1. George stole the secret of PSI 2. Maria refused to move on to the afterlife 3. Giegue and Giygas are the same person, as both are named Gyiyg in Japan, and Earthbound is called Mother 2: Gyiyg no Gyakushu, or Mother 2: Giygas Strikes Back!

  • @Cassie Oh, and have you seen Podunk in Eagleland? Fourside in America?

  • @ jacob: I dunno, it's a big country. I'm sure it's more then just those four towns. The two games could just be in different states or something.
