    Here comes my first challenge: deciding which file to overwrite. The top one is my first playthrough, the second one is my unfinished 100% file, and my third is my challenge run. I'm thinking that I should get rid of that last one, as I'm doing almost the same run, except I get more upgrades, but in turn I must do a couple extra floors in the Savage Labyrynth.

    My first taste of combat!! Y'know, I already think I am lucky that ND made the WW challange a high difficulty one. I'd probably end up doing the WW run regardless of points given, not to mention that I've gotten used to WW's combat, and know it better than any other game.

    With that being said, I just found something I never knew. Apparentley if you press B during a side hop, you can go straight into a jump strike. That's very useful, as the normal jump strike has an overly long range, and is hard to use when you're close to your enemy.

    Sorry whatever the name of the song that played in the intro is, but this is the best song in this game. It's just a shame that it's only 40 seconds long... On the same note, after hearing looping Paper Mario soundtracks for about three weeks, Zelda soundtracks are a nice change. Not that Zelda music is better, but it certainly has more variety. Okay, I'm using my comments too fast. I'll shush.

    It took me far too long to get here. I think I just flat out missed about five times when I attempted to grab a rope. Hidalgo, the Chalice represents all of the challenges. This specific challange is a "long term challenge," or challenge run, where I must defeat Ganondorf with three hearts, hero mode turned on, and have the Hero's Charm equipped. I think I should call it the 3HeroHero run.

    @Hidalgo Paper Mario Music is in no way terrible, but I would say as a whole I much prefer Zelda music to Mario music by a long shot. Super Mario Galaxy's OST is the exception, it's almost on par with Zelda music.

    Zelda final boss themes are really good, but i think that Mario final boss themes are better. And Mario music has plenty of top tier songs, but it also has plenty of middle-bottom tier songs that aren't even nice to listen to, I've learned.     Lame songs, that are basically one musical phrase that is put on loop. It's two different styles. SMG has my favorite music of any video game, ever, so I prefer Mario music.

    This is why you don't summersault near cliffs, kids. Careless mistakes are deadly in a 3HeroHero run. Luckily, the game is very forgiving. Yet I don't want to abuse that forgiveness. I also wish to see how my number of deaths stacks up to other chalice perticipants, so I don't plan on any suicides to refill my hearts...

    Easily avoidable lava and Keese bring me down to half health. I'm pretty rusty... I can't remember which enemies to play defensive with, which ones to go offensive with, and which ones to avoid. On the plus side, though, no incessant beeping is nice.

    Hm. I hate to say this, but besides the Koopa Rode theme from Super Mario 64, I can't remember any Mario final boss themes. However, I love Demise's theme from Skyward Sword. The main reason I like Zelda music better is almost hard to explain, although very simple. The best way to descibe it is I like so much Zelda music so much more than any other video game music.

    Oh man where are the ice arrows when you need them?! I hate these guys!! JP10, probably a while. I did my previous run in a week, but school starts monday... Still waiting on your thoughts, ND.     It took me my fairy, but I managed to beat him by stunning him with the Deku Leaf and using the aforementioned absurd range of Link's jump strike. I'm sure I could've done a lot better if I played more defensive with the leaf, and used more spin attacks to keep my mobility.

    I really love the futuristic approach Nintendo took with Wind Waker. It really makes it stand out, as going to space isn't something that happens all too often in Zelda games.

    No deaths in this dungeon!! Kalle Demos did eat through my layer of safety, but I ended the fight with three hearts. Off to Windfall!! I plan on getting the Swift Sail and the bombs, get the last pearl, then call it a day.

    Whoops, didn't mean to draw this guy's aggro. There's a good chance I won't win, as all I've got is a boomerang, but at least defeating him doesn't force a PoH upon me. I don't have a fairy, though, so if he deals 3+ hearts of damage, I'm done for.

    You use something other than the Boomerang on Big Octos normally? Huh. I know other options deal more damage, but being able to hit five eyes at once has always been my preference. Since I'm chiming in, I'll be doing this run minimally outside the Charm ... no upgrades of any kind. :p

    Hmm, interesting. I always used the bow. Overacheiver. ;) Granny's Soup isn't really useful in this run. The only place where I will choose it over a fairy is the labyrinth.

Too many things must be taken into account for you to accurately know why, but things like associating music with memories, the speed of the music, and the variety in it are some of those things.     Lazy to change songs, that happens far too often to me. It's really, really complicated, as there is no definate way to call a peice of music "good" or to call it "bad", unlike plotlines, dialogue, and characters.     Exactly. I agree with you completely. The reason I like Zelda music over Mario or any many game soundtracks. is a lot more difficult to explain than just I like the style more, since Zelda has many different musical styles. It's more how the music makes me feel over how good it sounds, I guess. Hahaha, point taken. :P I just figured I would apologize anyway since this isn't a post about music.

    It's not the worst breach of minimalism out there, just a convenience rather than something that reduces challenge. The Hero's Charm is more useful in that regard. Would it make you sick to know I've gotten the Swift Sail for under 200 rupees?

    It doesn't really suprise me, upset me, or make me sick. That's the equivilent of stopping three fancy little light circles instead of doing Miiverse on a seperate device. Also, that face is scary. And I'm feeling a little underqualified being the only person dying in Dragon Roost... Completely avoidable deaths as well. I just have to hope I can make it up with Puppet Ganon or in the Savage...

    Straggla has a few to spare, unlike Stag. In return, please explain the three circles of light at some point. I'm mystified. :p One key thing is I timed out the overbid stun - roughly 12 seconds. Another is to what extent you overbid. I start in right when those Windfall cityfolk try to move the price up by more than three, and all you have to do is bump it by 10-15 initially. 10% is safe later.

    Now the fancy light circles makes perfect sense! It's more a matter of once you start bidding, they never bid again. As soon as the 12 seconds is up, you have the bid meter ready. Also, because the timer flashes once you bid, you can use that interval to work the clock to your advantage.

    By the way, have any of you ever used multiple items on Big Octo? I always Boomerang, then target randomly with the bow and shoot. By that time the boomerang has returned, so repeat.

    On the two topics people are sharing strategies about... At the auction, I just go in with 400+ rupees, wait until the final ten seconds, and bid my entire wallet. They NPCs are stunned for the rest of the round. Expensive, but easy. On Big Octo blasting, I always just blow them up with the cannon. Aiming and timing are simple, and each bomb knocks out an eye instantly. Drains bombs,

    Stagger's method is definitely the best for saving rupees in my experience as well. You would be surprised at how cheap an item can go for if you're the only one bidding...

    Ah, but whatever is the most fun is what really counts ... I like aiming for low expenditure. It makes me happy. Some of what you fellows are saying sounds pretty amusing too.     After beating Dragon Roost, you can go anywhere on that L-shaped formation connecting Windfll to Dragon Roost, to Forest Haven. So yes, you can go back and get the Swift Sail at that time. That's how I've always done it.

    I usually bid by letting the crowd bid the whole time, and then right when the clock hits five seconds I bid 20% of the current price. I usually get items for 80-120 rupees, and it never fails.

    If anyone wants this fight to be way more fun, take all your shots in first person. For sake of not dying, I won't do it this run. But it will take this boss from a decent boss to an amazing one. Every shot feels meaningful, it doesn't feel like a cycle of "lock on, shoot, repeat." Don't ask how I found that out. It may or may not be because I didn't know you can lock on with the bow...

    After the couse of one dungeon, Link goes from "smush on tower like pancake" boy to "ready to save Hyrule, the world above, and his sister" hero. Now to take the enemies above offensively or defensively... I was overly cautious last time. I'm taking a different approach now. Another screenshot you pretty much have to take.

    Everyone is different - I actually seem to have a harder time not taking damage during Gohdan than any boss fight in the game. I agree it's a pretty good fight, quality music, a moment of humor ... it's hard to credit it much as a nearly direct clone of Bongo though. Swap a bouncing drun for a little bomb segment. In MC, they really altered this formula ...

    I really disliked Bongo Bongo due to OoT's bow controls, which (I think) are very clunky, and are in argueable worse than WWHD's bow controls. Shoot the hand bosses are generic, but I feel like it's at it's best in WWHD. Also, uhh... Follow these three tips: Wait for when he stops moving whatever part you're aiming at to shoot. Take out the hands quickly. That will force him to use his burp
