The post where my comrade and I are having a friendly competition for DK's Crash Course times is filling up, and not clearly labeled for that purpose, so ... here's a way to kick off a new one. Sub-50 on the opening course! I encourage joining in for anyone who loves this Attraction like I do. I've been a couple seconds faster at the first break in action, and about a second faster on Area 10 ...

I'm curious if you're still adamant about not accepting advice. The area 3 skip I'm using is no longer risky, thanks to a small adjustment. I can do it pretty consistently now, and I would be willing to show you how its done if you wish.

If you'll accept me proffering the obvious thing you're missing in Area 8, then a fair exchange of information can be made. :p Weird splits by comparison, but a 43.7 ...

I still can't see what skip you're referring to, so that seems like a fair exchange.

I'm basing this off splits and where I'm getting a big edge on the back end of the course, so if you already knew this, I get bupkus, deal? It's very simple: The final platform you can manipulate with the analog stick can be used as a ramp to leap the big hill, rather than going down to its base and over it from the bottom of the course. It's a narrow window, but there are several safe landing ...

techniques. You can either lay off the tilt to the right to bump the top of the hill and diminish momentum, sail all the way to the small drop-off at the flag and land flat, or use the corner of the wall above (very dangerous, but fun) to execute a little cartwheel ...

Nope, I certainly did not know that. Thanks! I'll give some screenshots of the area 3 procedure tonight.

Cool beans! This is a little disturbing, but I got curious what the public world records are like so I went link browsing. It seems the first course has some huge holes we're not even close to exploiting, as the WR is under 18 seconds. Yowza! It looked like the overall score was somewhere above 18k, from the list the search generated.

Yeah, that's kind of insane. But not terribly surprising, considering how long the game has been out.

Alright, area 3 skip, part one. Roll off this ledge slowly.

When you have one wheel off, press L. If you're too early, you'll simply be hanging there will one wheel on the platform. Too late, you won't be able to go the full rotation needed to land safely on the ground below. It takes practice, but once you have the timing down, it's not so bad.

Part two! I used to have the platform here rolled to the right, out of the way for the jump. But...

...I found that a variation of the area 6 skip works here too, and is much easier to pull off. Go over the edge, return to the center position quickly, and get your bearings to finish the first part of course one.

Boom. Sub-19 for the first four sections. ...Which apparently is enough to beat the entire course. =P

That's a very cool method! The way I've been doing it is to intentionally get hooked, but by positioning the back wheel at the apse of the L bridge in the up position and releasing. Then you get to the apse of the R-button one, and can drop straight down. I you are facing the opposite way, by hooking usingbthe front wheel, the subsequent drop has a very low percentage chance of not ending in a ...

splat, whereas the back wheel method always lands safely, provided you settle directly at the juncture in the bridge first. I'm thinking there is probably a way to abuse the section of Area 3 immediately before that as well, which I'll experiment with a bit ... thanks comrade!

That's pretty convoluted to describe with words, and after landing your technique a couple times, I think it's a very close situation as to which is quicker at its best, given how necessarily slow the approach to the flip seems to be. Let me illustrate mine too, so maybe you can test it. The key to it is being able to hit the two pictured positions quickly. Release L and repress it quickly here.

Doing so hooks the tripod cart in a postion where you can slide back to here. Pressed the Home button with my nose so you can see the desired effect - by holding R and L down, releasing R then makes a safe drop w/ the ramp in position to roll on. If you stop on a dime in both spots, this technique allows for a 10.x split of the Area 3/4 combo. Of course I'll be testing your move for a bit!

You don't necessarily need to go slow, but you don't want to speed off the ramp either. The maneuver can probably take about a second or less if you get good enough at it.

Hence why I knew I wanted to put some more craft into it, heh. I've had a 10.7 on the Area 3+4 tally using it, leading to a 19.3 at the break, and that was my most seamless use of your version so far. It's definitely netting a much higher percentage of 20.x stuff than my way was, and with some getting used to, I should improve on this 43.5. Great stuff!
