Whoa! I wasn't expecting Lyn to have a tragic backstory!

While I didn't find Shadow Dragon that depressing, I will say that FE characters typically have depressing backstories. Honestly, I started with this game and Awakening, and considering this game goes from very happy and Nintendo esque, to Majora's Mask levels depressing in one stage is a good sign of things to come. As much as I like Lyn tho, I have to say this is NOTHING compared to Lyon

If you want sad, check out Renault's backstory. He has one of the most in-depth backstories in the Fire Emblem series.

I finished Lyn's story and I didn't lose a single unit. Probably gonna get harder and more sadder backstories in Eliwood's story. I still think Lyn's an awesome and tragic character.

Lyn is such a great character in my opinion. I might be in the minority here, but I love Lyn's story. It really warmed me up to the gameplay and characters. Lyn was a great main character and at the end of her story, I felt so sad saying goodbye.

Yeah. Me too. However, I could possibly meet Lyn again in Eliwood or another main character's story.

@Prince: I definitely agree. Lyn's story might not have as grand of a sense of scale as Eliwood and Hector's, but I feel like it's a lot more personal and relatable to playthrough. Definitely agreed that Lyn in a great character. She's easily one of my Top 5 or so in the series.

She's my personal favorite character in the series, in part because her story was a personal tale instead of a large conflict. I feel she is one of the most relatable Lords in the series, and I love how she can be the mom of the second most relatable lord IMO. Yes, I ship Eliwood and Lyn.

I would ship Eliwood and Lyn but the game pretty much comfirmed EliwoodxNinian and Rath couldn't marry any woman besides Lyn because the man has no social skills whatsoever. I'm so curious about the characters in FE6, which makes me want to play it even more. Please Nintendo.

@Aiden I won't say anything but let's just say you're going to like it.

@Prince: The game doesn't confirm anything. Only implies that certain pairs do canonically happen. I wouldn't say Lyn/Rath (which is far from a favorite of mine) is implied just because the developers forgot to give Rath another female support. As for which Lyn pairing I do prefer, put it this way. I like to think that Roy does become the father of Lyn's grandchildren.

That is to say, Lyn's grandchildren would also be Ninian's, as far as I'm concerned.

My favorite FE characters right now are Lyn, the awesome and pretty swordswoman, Ike, one of my Smash Bros. mains, Morgan, the girl you can turn into anything you want, Robin/Awakening's Avatar, the brilliant and brave tactician that represents the player, Owain, the entertaining child of Lissa, who loves naming weapons and Lucina, Chrom's daughter, trying to prevent a dark future.

@Al I guess all those times Eliwood was kind and assisted Ninian was him being a gentleman. And I always thought the reason for Lyn being Rath's only female support was because there aren't any other people in the army that could go with Rath (Maybe Karla). It is possible that Rath's father forced him to marry some random women from another tribe.

@Prince: Note that nowhere in my post did I mention anything outright about Eliwood/Ninian. However, saying that pair isn't implied would be one of the last things I would say, if I would say anything like that at all. That's because, unlike Lyn/Rath, Eliwood/Ninian does actually get some significant interaction. This is noticeable in cutscenes.

One of the scenes involving Eliwood and Ninian gets extended and different music when the two are paired up, whereas another scene is changed outright from the moment where the scene in question normally ends. Such a change also requires Eliwood and Ninian to be paired up. Regardless of implications, FE7 doesn't "confirm" that any pair (besides Pent/Louise and Bartre/Karla) canonically happens.

This is because at no point has someone from I.S. come forth and flat out said that "these pairs happen, whether you like it or not". Also, there remains the fact that no matter what the game implies to happen, the player can choose who winds up with whom. For example, FE7 implying that Lyn ultimately ends up with Hector doesn't stop anyone from wanting to pair both of them up with someone else.

In fact, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that IS in fact stated that all optional pairs are canon before Awakening released thanks to Outrealms. They even specified this was the case for each game, and not just Awakening

Also, Lyn and Eliwood get special scenes in the battle preparations chapter if paired, so while Eli and Ninian is more suggested, the game does show plenty of love to the other options
