    In the top-left-hand corner, right above where it shows the stages for the current rotation, you can see what mode is currently available for ranked battles.

    Yeah, but you have to go into the lobby for that. On the other hand, after I posted this I discovered that you can hit the "stages" button on the game pad and it'll tell you, which is nice! :)
