    animation cancelling? id prefer the lvl 7 bow and lvl 8 sword.

    Just the basic sword? I like to use the Rapier, and the Dual daggers when fighting swarms, but I like using the bow too (That poison slime boss is brutal without it)

    Animation Cancelling is where you press B to cancel your attack animation. This resets the attack combo, allowing you to attack or move again. Alternating between attacking and cancelling of the melee attacks isn't that beneficial since it doesn't speed up the attacks noticably, and you miss out on the finisher of the combo. But the bow attacks slowly and is greatly sped up by spamming A, B, A, B.

    Also, all weapons benefit from pressing B at the end of a combo. It allows you to move earlier than normal, and allows you to attack again WAY earlier than normal (there's a cooldown after you complete a combo where you can't attack. Pressing B resets this)

    oh ok. and no,not the beginning wepeon. lvl 7 is the bow of darkness and lvl 8 is the fragerance. both found in the final interval dungeon. i.e blue magic circle.

    I'm not talking about that. I'm saying that there's a wide variety of swords, from the broadsword, to the katana, to the rapier. I was asking if you just use the standard sword that's for both classes ♂/♀

    The katana is my preferred weapon. It has a good reach and wide arc which can catch many foes in a combo.

    Oh, and yes, I do use animation cancelling. it greatly helps against the small red dragons. (I recently started using it.

    This discussion is old but it is the most recent one still open, I just found out how to use the map today, check my journal entry for details, I like to use bows because they don't break, katana for fast attacks with masamune and swords because of the final weapon.
