THEORY HOUR: Cap'n Cuttlefish was a veteran of the Great Turf Wars. He still has his hatred for the Octolings and fakes conflict with them to get an unsuspecting kid to kiII them all off for him, obviously still hanging on to his wartime grandeur. You're responsible for taking the Octos' last chance at life. The kicker? Agent 2 says "Gramps, are you sure you're not getting captured on purpose?"

    Also, it seems that the Inklings are pretty racist, per se, against the Octolings, even to the point where there's mass hysteria about something involving them. Notice how Inkopolis seems to be working just fine without the Zapfish powering it. Music is still blaring, the lights are on, and of course, the Squid Sisters are on the Jumbotron.     ...Zapfish powers everything because it's a sort of ritualistic belief? Like the Fax Machine Shrine (which I'll get into in another post, they're devoted. So when the Octolings steal it to try and get back home, Cuttlefish has you ANNIHILATE them. He's using the instilled fear of Octolings combined with the devotion to the Zapfish to make you think you're saving the world. It's just dirty work.

    I was referencing The movie Starship Troopers because a major theme of that movie is about how propaganda is used to incite war with a hidden agenda. SPOILERS A meteor hits Earth and wipes out Rio De Janiero so Earth's government blames a planet of insectoid beings and ships a bunch of soldiers to wipe out a race with a culture too primitive to have intentionally flung the meteor to begin with.

    When you refight the Octo King, DJ Octavian during the amiibo challenges (yes it is a different fight DJO says no snowglobe can hold me), Cuttlefish is captured and Marie and I quote says this, "That's convienent with her eye rolling looking face" after Callie points out that he's been captured again.
