You know what Zelda U could use? A jump button. It could create more possibilities for exploration. Especially if you could get an item to increase jump hight.

  • over gaps, can already jump over gaps. Climbing up ledges is an interesting idea, and could help with combat (jumping off walls) and yeah, that would be cool.

    Yeahs1
  • Roc's Feather/Cape.

    Yeahs0
  • List of unnecessary things Link can do: Run, backflip, sidehop, spin attack, catch bugs in a bottle, use deku nuts, ride Epona (most of the time), change shields, upgrade sword (in MM), crawl, and plenty of other things. What makes Zelda games fun is the fact that you CAN do these things despite not really needing them to complete the game.

    Yeahs2
  • And why can't the Hero of Time jump? Even I can jump! Assigning it to an item slot (as in the case with the feather) would just make it so I have to switch items out more often. And I would love to jump and shoot an arrow over a fence I normally can't see over.

    Yeahs3
  • It would be the Water Temple and the Iron boots all over again.

    Yeahs0
  • If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The series has been fine without a jump button so far. I just really don't think it would add that much. If anything, it would make the platforming segments harder.

    Yeahs2
  • I think Link shouldn't jump, because then then the puzzles wouldn't be Zelda puzzles anymore. ...Though it might be fun to do other kinds of puzzles... Okay talked my self into corner... But anyway, I kinda think it's sort of "Zelda thingy" that Link can't jump, it's a huge part of the games idea, for me at least. Because of the lacked ability to jump, you have to figure other ways to get your way

    Yeahs0
  • hmm, maybe roc's cape will returtn,so your theory will be true

    Yeahs0
  • perhaps you could jump until you equip the iron boots.

    Yeahs0
  • *Facepalm* Guys! Listen to yourselves! If it aint broke don't fix it? If Nintendo stuck to that there would be no Ocarina of Time, no Majora's Mask, no Skyward Sword, no Wind Waker, no Hyrule Warriors, no HD remakes, and no innovation. These changes weren't made because of necessity, but because it's a world based on exploration and invention.

    Yeahs7
  • I can understand why people would be skeptical, but I don't think a simple jump mechanic is enough to seriously disrupt the core gameplay.

    Yeahs5
  • jumping would be a good ability for link to have for combat and exploration, but there would have to be a limitation to it. i mean, it would be great, but then one of zeldas most iconic (hookshot) items would be put to shame if his leaping ability is too overpowered.

    Yeahs1
  • how about a dodge mechanic/or counter mechanic? that sounds even better..........jump? lol i've seen it.....looks goofy ....maybe in an all toony zelda but not in a ''realistic'' zelda

    Yeahs1
  • @thefunklab thats exactly i im thinking! Just because link can jump, doesnt make it a platformer!

    Yeahs3
  • "Oh, no! Link can now jump freely?! This breaks tradition! WORST GAME EVER!" I'm suprised (and glad) that this kind of comment hasn't appeared yet.

    Yeahs1
  • You can technically jump freely in Skyward Sword.

    Yeahs0
  • Yeahs0
  • An item? Maybe. A whole button dedicated to jumping? No. Seriously randomly jumping in Hyrule Field is unnecessary and the game automatically jumps if you want to jump towards something. It did not do that in the handheld games and that's why they had the feather item.

    Yeahs1
  • I've taken so much damage from Link accidentally jumping off the map lol.

    Yeahs0
  • Jumping really isn't really necessary considering that there is a Wind Rod in "A Link Between Worlds" that basically is a jump button. And even that isn't necessary except for one boss fight.

    Yeahs0
