amiibos for online multiplayer

Does anybody wishes they can use their amiibos for online multiplayer in Smash? i know a friend who has a Sonic amiibo that she got for her birthday last year and wanted to give it a try.

I wished the same thing to but depending on the internet connection it may cause data corruption on the amiibo.
