    That's because the paralogues will scale based on your progression. So the further in the game and stronger you get,the stronger the enemies will be. It's why some people recommend getting the children as soon as possible. Yet others say to wait it out before getting them

    I beat paralougue 4 in 4 turns. Just sent Jakob straight to Dwyer and had Niles at the gate ready to unlock it for ambush.
