History Behind Smash Characters: R.O.B.+Ness

Welcome to The History Behind Smash Characters. This isn't something I normally do, but in this case I shall pair up R.O.B. and Ness for research.

  • Diffusion Beam+FS When the screen flashes on the TV while playing the NES, R.O.B.'s eyes turn red. While using this move, it's eyes turn red.

  • @Kolleen Hi.

  • Arm Rotor A R.O.B. in real life can rotate it's arms, but at a much slower pace than Arm Rotor. In Smash, Arm Rotor is an ok reflector and multi-hit move.

  • Gyro No. It's not that taco you find on the street pronounced yee-ro. This was an accesory for the NES that R.O.B. can use for Gyromite. In Smash, it's a projectile that can perform amazing combos that...I can't do.

  • Huh! You learn something new everyday...can't wait to see Ness' history!

  • PK Flash In Earthbound, this involves using the character's psychic power to create a strong flash. It's earlier stages can cause crying, feeling strange, and numb...EB is weird. In Smash, it's one of the strongest attacks.

  • PK Fire In Earthbound...neither Ness or Lucas can learn this move, but their teammates instead. Anyways, it uses psychic power to shoot fire at an enemy. In Smash, people just use it to spam online before a single bat swing to the face. Sakurai...

  • Also PK Fire was his neutral special in 64 and can go downward at 45° angle in the air.

    Yeahs1

  • PK Thunder Ness and Lucas can't use this move either. It uses psychic power to shoot lightning. Not Grease Lightning. In Smash, it's a meh recovery but powerful move when the lightning hits Ness.

  • PSI Magnet Same backstory as Fire and Thunder. In Earthbound, it absorbs PP. PP isn't a mechanic in Smash, nor is it pee, so it absorbs health instead.

  • PK Starstorm Same backstory as most of the specials. To explain the inconsistency, Brawl tells that Ness and Lucas' allies taught it to them for Smash. In Smash, it's broken.

  • Up/Down Smash This is based off the Yo-yo item. Similar to Shadow Ball in Melee, Aura Sphere, and Corrin's forward smash, these attacks would do charge damage in Melee and Brawl. In SSB4, it remained the same but without the charge damage.

  • Forward smash This is based off the bat item in Earthbound. In Smash, the tip of the bat is very powerful and a reflector. As you can see in the screenshot, the reflected Missile clashes with the small Charge Shot.

  • And that concludes this pair up episode. Only source was SmashWiki. Stay tuned for the next episode as we conclude the legend of the one...the only...CAPTAIN FALCON!!!!

  • After Captain Falcon Can You Try All Characters Costume From What Game?

  • The Tricks Ness used are "Around The World" and "Walk The Cat"

  • @Miguel Of course. I already talked about some costumes (ex. DHD). I'll still do it, just without some characters.
