How to be good at smash

So I just did this today and it'd actually work. I beat lv9 Sheik without shielding or dodging. Try to practice fighting someone or lv9 cpu without dodging or shielding for a while and use your jump more. After a while you will become a good smash player

  • And what about items are thrown, such as explosives? What about projectiles like Samus'? And if a Bayonetta player pulls the common Smash + Control pad/stick down [the Stomp smash]? There's still certain things to analyze.

  • how to ACTUALLY get good at smash; Go to offline tournaments, read up on your characters matchups, ask high level players for advice, avoid facing cpu's like the plague. Cpu's, even the level 9's, are predictable, and teach you bad habits as a player because the cpu's tend to ALWAYS fall for the same tactics every time, and rarely use ones that most real players would.

  • So you become better by not using things that are supposed to be used? I got better at Smash about 10 years ago when I STARTED shielding and dodging.

  • @Keeta: Lvl 9 CPU's often shield and air dodge. This can give you bad habits, of course.

  • I should report this. Smash Wii U isn't a game you can get good at because it's the easiest game you can play. Smash Wii U isn't real esports and I would be offended if you disagreed. Shame on you, Melee is the best fighting game.

  • 1: stop playing on for glory. 2: play anthers ladder 3: don't john and make excuses, say ggs and move on 4: focus on 3 characters max, a main, and secondaries to counterpick 5: make your goals small, dont try to be the best in the world, make it your goal to be the best in your character or local. then go for harder goals 6: learn matchups 7: time.

  • I should have just said stop dodging a lot if you that kind of person and use your jump more.@Keeta to be honest I ask this from a person who win 2 smash tournament. Since I'm a bad player I ask him and he said try to fight lv9 cpu without shielding or dodging for a while and I roll a lot so... Yeah. So after a while of doing that start to use shields and dodge again but not much are often.
