    During the Awakening era, Nintendo took a poll in Japan to see what first-gen characters were the most popular. The winners were - in no particular order - Chrom, Gaius, Tharja, and Cordelia. When Fates rolled around, they used this poll and made Gaius, Tharja, and Cordelia child characters.
