Tyrfing is really good period^^ It's good against Alvis, because he uses Valflame and one of the stats Tyrfing boosts is resistance

Ares and Seliph could team up and whittle Julius down to 22 HP, provided they capped Str. (Ares should attack first, though. Due to the fact that Julius has Wrath.) With Lana and Nanna or Ced healing them for the enemy phase. I forget how much castles heal units by, but I think he would be able to go down in the following player phase with that strategy.

Alternatively, you could berserk Gallus, and make sure he attacks Julius with his Heartless Angel tome. The best way this can work, though, is with a high-levelled Sharlow. Who is your only means of getting the Berserk staff, and unfortunately can't exist alongside Sylvia's kids, Corple and Lynn. Without him, your only means of berserking Gallus is with the Berserk Sword, and major RNG abuse.

But of course, since the Book of Loptyr only reduces the damage taken by half, and any Final Fantasy fan knows that Heartless Angel reduces the target's HP to 1, anyone can administer the Coup dé Grace to Julius after he takes a Heartless Angel attack. I haven't tried this myself, though. But this would mean that Heartless Angel can bypass the Book of Loptyr's effect.

I've actually seen someone use Ishtar to kill Julius. It was the same process. Berserk Ishtar and Zehn (forgot the localized name). Zehn uses Hel on Julius and Ishtar finishes the job.
