    You need to bring an ally that can create Dark orbs (Boo, for example), and use it on the crossroads with the pipe. Match some dark orbs to trigger the gold block, then clear the level to unlock the secret exit. If you haven't done so already, this can also be used to unlock world 3's Ghost House. Keep in mind that Dark orbs will always work on gold blocks, so try it out whenever you see one.

    Small correction: dark orbs won't always work on gold blocks, as I just found one that responded to light orbs but not to dark orbs. So it appears they respond to one of the orb colors that the other paths aren't using. For example, if you have a blue pipe, a red pipe, and a gold block all on one screen, then the block will not react to blue or red.
