    If you use the Knight's Crest, the unit that uses it remains promoted unless they happen to die in Lyn's Story. So promoting Sain has him joining as a Paladin in Eliwood's and Hector's Stories. I think what Jack meant was it would disappear if it just sits in a unit's inventory if Lyn's Story is finished.

    There is one way to get Sain to level 20 and use the Knight Crest but it involves boss-abusing Lundgren which take really long and is really hard (As he got higher in levels, the more of a chance he had of killing Lundgren in one turn). But it was worth it.

    It is possible to have Sain at a high enough level to use a Knight's Crest at the end of Lyn's Story, though. Maybe not 20, but still.
